The One-Year Nelly Sachs Fellowship Program
Fall 2004 - Spring 2005
For 2004–2005, the program will be in tribute to Nelly Sachs, a Jewish poet who escaped from Germany to Sweden in 1940. In her powerful verse, the fate and hope of the Jewish people assume metaphorical form.

The One Year Buber Fellowship Program
Fall 2002 - Spring 2003
The purpose of the one-year Fellowship program of the Paideia is to bring together Europeans in order to explore the roots that nourish Jewish cultural creativity, personal identity, and promote intellectual and professional stimulation. Students are subsidized for study and living conditions in Stockholm. The common language is English, with a Hebrew ulpan to allow for enriched textual study. No prior study experience in Jewish text is required. Transfer credits for undergraduate courses are available in Jewish Thought, History, Bible, Midrash, and Mishnah.

The Idea of Revelation in Levinas’s Ethical Metaphysics

Måndagen den 5 maj kl 19.00 på Paideia, Nybrogatan 21, 2 vån.

Professor Ephraim Meir har som specialområden judisk och allmän existensialism, judiskt tänkande avseende Shoah, judiskt tänkande efter det moderna genombrottet med inriktning på 19oo-talet. Han är en ledande forskare på filosoferna Emmanuel Levinas och Franz Rosenzweigs verk.

Bland professor Meirs publikationer kan nämnas ”The Myth in Judaism” och ”Psychoanalysis and Contemporary Thought”.


Robert Alter
, Professor i europeisk och amerikansk litteratur
vid Berkeley University. Reading Biblical Narrative.

Tisdagen den 13 maj kl 19.00 på Paideia, Nybrogatan 21, 2 vån.

Professor Robert Alter är författare till 17 böcker, med inriktning på bl a den europeiska romanen från 1700-talet till våra dagar samt den litterära aspekten av Bibeln och modern hebreisk litteratur.

Hans bok The Art of Biblical Narrative vann det prestigfulla priset ”The National Jewish Book for Jewish Thought”. Professor Robert Alter är ledamot i Paideia Academic Committee.
