Rashi European Summer

Studies Programme 2006

July 10 - 20, 2006 in Troyes, France

Education
The Rashi European Summer Studies Programme educates and supports young Jewish activists in the development of their entrepreneurial skills and helps them to realize projects all over Europe. It offers academic courses on Jewish texts and learning with a focus on contemporary Europe. Teachers include distinguished scholars such as Dr Diana Pinto, historian and consultant to the Political directorate of the Council of Europe.

The Summer Programme is a cooperation between Paideia - The European Institute of Jewish Studies in Sweden, The Jewish Agency, Institut Universitaire Rachi and The Melton Center of the Hebrew University.

The Summer Programme addresses issues such as:

- What is the role of Jews in Europe today?
- How can I participate in stimulating Jewish culture in a professional way?
- How can I fill my projects with Jewish content relevant to contemporary Europe?

Projects
Participants will develop projects within the following categories:

Jewish learning through culture
Curriculum development and teaching
The Jewish voice

Projects can be individual or performed by a group and take place in one location or several different locations in Europe. The Summer Program helps participants develop their projects into an application for funding. If your project is accepted by the Pincus Fund, the Summer Programme ensures that it is supervised and executed in a professional manner. The Summer Program aims at improving both the technical and substantive aspects of participants' projects.
